Crete is the largest Greek island and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.It is divided into four prefectures:Heraklion,Chania,Lasithi and Rethymno.Heraklion is the largest city and capital of Crete.Lasithi is the easternmost prefecture of Crete.It is surrounded by the sea:The Sea of Crete lies to the north,The Carpathian Sea to the East and The Libyan Sea to the South.Its capital is Agios Nikolaos.

58 kilometres southeast to the city of Agios Nikolaos there is Koutsouras.It's a coastal village of 800 residents on the south axis,a few kilometres to Makry Gialos.It is 22 kilometres east of Ierapetra and 37 kilometres southwest of Sitia.The residents are mostly occupied with agriculture(cultivation of premature agricultural products,olive-growing) and incidentally with the tourist sector.The rapid development of the settlement in the 1980s has resulted in the creation of a significant tourist center.The magnificent beach with its unique dark gray pebble which is spread on broad,with the blue-green crystal clear waters and the shadowy trees,is a great challenge for the visitors.It is rewarded with blue flags by the European Union.

 

Here you can see the grove of Apiganias,with infrastructure for hosting concerts and various cultural events.From the grove begins a canyon which after half an hour journey ends up in a small church.In the village there's a kindergarten,Primary school,Elementary and High school,day nursery,citizens service center,rural clinic,post office,pharmacy,police station and a football stadium.

Koutsouras is about 115 kilometres far from Heraklion.There are frequent routes by the public bus service from the port as well as the airport,taxi service and if you have a car the duration of the journey is approximately 2 hours.During your journey you will come across some very beautiful and interesting locations.

​

There's also a small airport in the city of Sitia which is just 40 kilometres far from Koutsouras and serves passengers with frequent flights to Athens,Kavala,Alexandroupoli as well as a port with ship routes to Athens and Rhodes.

On the largest beach of koutsouras,near the village entrance you will find the surrounded by flowers and the sea ''Big Blue''rooms to let which are made with lots of care and love.During the years there has been constant renovation in order for us to respond to our customers' needs.
